Hand-Beaded Kenyan Belts

Welcome to our beaded belts Kenya collection!

Step into the world of Kenyan culture and tradition with the vibrant beauty of beaded belts and dog collars. These stunning accessories are not just fashion statements; they are a reflection of Kenya's rich cultural heritage and the craftsmanship of its people.

Maasai beadwork is a tradition of the Maasai tribe that dates back hundreds of years. Beadwork is traditionally performed by Maasai women, and is considered their duty to learn and pass on to future generations as part of their heritage.

After the leather is cut, every part of the process is completely handmade by the Maasai mamas. It takes on average 2 days to complete just one medium sized belt.

All materials are locally sourced in Kenya. The buckles we use are sourced locally from a man living outside of Nairobi, who hand casts the buckles out of recycled brass.

To complete your look, explore our full collection of Kikoi Clothing, incorporating a variety of luxurious fabrics and fabric blends; all adorned with vibrant Kenyan Kikoi fabric.

FAQ’s:

1. How to choose the right size of beaded belts and collars?

We recommend looking at our size chart for each product (Link shown above the ‘Add to bag’ button on the product page). To determine the size that best corresponds to your measurements.

2. What's the best way to clean a beaded belt & dog collar?

Cleaning a leather beaded belt and dog collar requires gentle care to ensure that both the leather and beads remain in good condition. Before cleaning, gently brush or wipe the collar with a soft, dry cloth to remove any loose dirt, dust, or debris. If there are specific areas of the collar that are heavily soiled or stained, you can spot clean them with a damp cloth. Use a mild soap or leather cleaner diluted in water, and gently rub the stained area in a circular motion. Avoid saturating the leather with water, as excessive moisture can damage it.

For the beads, use a soft-bristled toothbrush or a damp cloth to gently clean the beads, taking care not to scrub too vigorously or immerse them in water, as this can cause the beads to loosen or discolor.

Once cleaned and conditioned, allow the collar to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight or heat sources, as this can cause the leather to crack or fade.

3. Do belts and dog collars have a significant impact on fashion and style?

Belts and dog collars can add interesting details and focal points to an outfit. A well-chosen belt with unique hardware, stitching, or texture can draw attention to the waist and create visual interest. Similarly, a stylish dog collar can serve as a fashion statement for pets, reflecting the owner's taste and style sensibility.

While belts and dog collars may seem like minor details, they play an essential role in fashion and style by adding personality, defining silhouette, adding detail, completing the look, and offering versatility. These accessories contribute to the overall aesthetic and can make a significant impact on the overall impression of an outfit.
