Every Koy piece is designed by us in London. The cloth comes from some of the most respected mills in Italy, England, Belgium, Spain and Portugal, and each garment is made by a specialist workshop chosen for one thing: the quality of its work.
This is where your clothes really come from, and the people who make them.
ITALY
ITALIAN TAILORING CLOTH
Our suits and blazers begin as cloth from mills that have shaped Italian tailoring for generations: Loro Piana, E. Thomas, Fratelli Tallia Di Delfino, and Lanificio Rogna.
Linen for breathability, wool for structure, silk for drape. Blended well, they make a suit that looks as good at the end of a long day as it did at the start.
The cloth is then cut and sewn by a specialist tailoring workshop in Morocco, in a free-trade zone connected to the EU.
LINEN, COTTON, CASHMERE & MERINO
SHIRTING
Our linen comes from the European Flax Belt (France, Belgium, Netherlands) and we use various prestigious mills - such as Libeco (Belgium), Sidogras (Spain) and Essenteks (Turkey) to create unique and varied collections.
We use the finest Egyptian cotton, cashmere-cotton and Merino wool-cotton blends from mills including Somelos in Portugal.
Each shirt is then made in Istanbul by a specialist shirtmaker, working to our patterns and finishing.
PORTUGAL
KNITWEAR
Our quarter-zips are knitted in Portugal, home to some of Europe's finest knitwear makers, from Italian merino wool and cashmere spun by Papi Fabio in Bologna, Northern Italy.
The result is soft enough to wear against the skin and substantial enough for a British winter.
ENGLAND
BRITISH MILLERAIN
The Aberdare Coat is cut from 1880 Drill: a 290gsm, 100% cotton twill woven in England by British Millerain, specialists in hardwearing, weather-resistant cloth.
It is made for real weather and gets better with age, which is exactly the point.
Why it takes time
SMALL RUNS. NO SHORTCUTS.
From choosing a cloth to a finished garment takes around ten months. We produce in small runs, twice a year, and every piece passes through several pairs of skilled hands along the way.
It is a slower way to make clothes. We think you can feel the difference.
The finishing touch
A LITTLE PIECE OF KENYA
In every Koy garment, the only part that comes from Kenya is the Kikoy: a strip of hand-woven fabric set beneath a collar, inside a cuff or along a placket. It is the detail that makes it ours.
